Laptop Decision - Personal Gaming

Sorry to those that are waiting for reviews but I just haven't had the time to do much else but work and look for a new laptop. As for the new youtube gamer thing that I am looking to pick up...well there haven't been any that I would jump on right now. There are a few that are good but those are usually quite well known and for the most port I've been watching Youtube channels that are about comedy recently.

For a laptop Ive spoken to my dad and he says that the best ones to get are made my Sony then Asus then HP. So I think instead of getting an HP this time I'll get a Sony Vaio one. The one that I've been looking at is:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834127434

and

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834127365

The thing is they are basically the same one but the more expensive one apparently has a bluray dvd drive and the other doesn't. Not to mention it comes with a game and a headset. I think I like the head set but I don't care for the game and those added items don't seem to make up for the $100 different unless the headset is worth more than $100. I did an Amazon.com search on the headset (by look since newegg di8dn't provide any information about it) and found out 2 headsets that match the one they are offering. One is around $60 and the other is around $120. They both look the same but one is obviously newer and better, I can't tell which one they include with the laptop though since there is no distiguishing marks. If my hunch is correct though, its the cheaper one which would mean I should buy the cheaper laptop since the added items are a waste. Then again the bluray disc drive might be worth it though I don't plan on buying any dvds anytime soon..so I guess it isn't worth it eh?.

Any thoughts? or if someone has bought this stuff before do you know which one is included?

  3. i have a sony vaio from the fz-series and after 1 year the notebook's display broke...i send it in (to sony) just to find out that they'd charge me 350$ for the repair which was a no go at that time.also battery life is very very very bad (mine is probably broken but it shuts down after 5mins) and some hardware controls also broke after some traveling through asia.

vaios look good in general though...

  4. Newegg is great. I don't know much about laptops. Got my netbook, which is great for classes. I have an awesome gaming pc, though.. So i don't need much.

  6. go cheap, you can always upgrade later according to your needs.

  7. Personally unless you dont own a bluray player I dont see the need for a blu ray drive. I would go for the cheaper one, unless the headset really means that much to you

  8. One word: Alienware

  9. Thanks for following me.. I like that Alienware m11x, but now there are sooooo many competitors for laptops, its gonna get interesting :)

Good story, friend! Please VIEW my newest blogs :)

  10. are you really gonna be using the bluray?

  11. If you don't care about the headset and have no blu-rays then don't get it, that's what I would do. Too many people get caught up in "specials" and end up spending more money than they wanted to.

  12. i would pick the one without the adds, get them somewhere cheaper.
Also, 425m geforce is a beast for laptop :3 i got it as well in my asus N73J

  13. My gaming laptop is an ASUS. I do not regret buying it. Best gaming decision I ever made.

  14. May not be exactly what you're looking for but have you though about purchasing a netbook?

  15. Try one of the ASUS g series laptops. Very good performance for a reasonable price!

  16. Sounds like it's not worth the extra money if that's the deal.

  17. I have a Vaio with similar specs to both of them. It runs what I need. No bluray on mine though.

  18. i don't think the bluray player is worth it, i don't spend my money on movies

  19. i really like gamming in the pc, better than consoles sometimes

  20. I have a 5 year old sony viao which is still going strong today. sadly the battery has no life left but everything else still works the same way as when i bought it!

  21. the one with the headset, definitely

  22. Let me know how it is when you get it, I'll be needing a new laptop in the not too distant future myself.

  23. I don't think I would ever use bluray so I would get the other one.

Then again, I've never used one so I could be missing out on something.

  24. Id say 2nd one, but i dont know that much about computers!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I personally would recommend Asus above all else. I have a friend who acquired a beast of a machine (Laptop) that beat out his Alienware Laptop for like half the price.

  26. I'd take the Blu-ray version since it's good investment for the future.

But still, Sager, MSI and Asus gaming laptops are best imo.

  27. I had a Sony vaio, but the screen broke down after 2 years. I now have a HP elite book, it's way more better.

  28. IMO Sony's laptops are overpriced, asus offers much better value for money

  29. I'm looking to buy a laptop too, not really for gaming though so I can't give much advice

  30. I think you should buy the second one !

  31. In my family, my mother got a VAIO computer. But that computer was really weird, problem all the time. That computer was bought 2004-2005 so VAIOs computer may be better now then before but I would still take another computer. Don't forget to uninstall all unnecessary programs when you get your computer, even if it is a laptop you may want to rebot for best experience. Good luck.

  32. HP make quality stuff in my experience

    ReplyDelete
  33. You really wouldn't consider a desktop at all for gaming?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I dont think laptops are ideal for gaming but I'd go for the one with game and headset.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm not sure which one to get, but it's a good idea to get a Vaio! They are great laptops.

    ReplyDelete
  36. the first ones really good, that would get my pick but tbh i have no idea

    ReplyDelete
  37. the point is that do you want to plug it to tv and watch full hd or not, cause then I don't think you will need blueray on 16.4" screen

    ReplyDelete
  38. sorry i lost track with computer components so im useless here :/

    ReplyDelete
  39. im not sure. but keep me updated on what you get im looking for a new gaming laptop as well but i may just stick with a desktop not sure ATM.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Asus is my favorite brand. I've had nothing but success with my gaming, desktop replacement, asus computer

    ReplyDelete
  41. Whow, i would rather never buy an notebook for gaming (laptop) always an standing thing ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Its what your going to use it for :) if you are going to use the blu ray player... get that one.. if not .. or you are not that bothered.. the specs are very similar... you are probably best getting the cheaper one and buying a game you want and a head set !

    ReplyDelete
  43. If it was me, I would go for the blu-ray one. I love movies. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yup I think your Dads right. Can't beat Sony.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I guess If I had to choose, I would go for the Sony laptop. But generally, if they have the same processor, and the same ram, I'd choose the cheaper one.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'd probably go with the cheaper one, since the only main difference is it has a Bluray player, and I don't personally watch that many movies, even then I'd probably just go with a normal DVD, can't see much reason for the extra cost.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sony laptop!

    Thanks for following bro

    ReplyDelete
  48. Go with the cheaper one, they're pretty much the same.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Get the cheaper one. It runs dvds anyway and if you ever NEEDED a bluray player for some reason you can get an external drive later on. And they will only get cheaper too :)
